Randy and I headed out on our little adventure to see S. Oregon coast and N. California Redwoods National Park leaving home June 24th 2025. Our first stay was in Cottage Grove. to stay one night at the Best Western. I learned that they have 22 murals scattered around there. Unfortunately, the weather was unusually hot and they roads in the main part of town were torn up and being worked on. We did manage to walk to see a few and a covered bridge (pictured just below and on a mural).

An old view of Cottage Grove on one mural.
There were 2 murals for Coca Cola!

The animal related murals were on a wall along a thrift store where the money goes to help animals.

Apparently the movie The General with Buster Keaton was filmed in Cottage Grove in 1926 so this mural is to honor that fame. The picture below it gives info on its creation and restoration.
On the top of one building was this interesting set of structures. Very art deco but no one around to ask what it's for.
A river flowing through part of the town of Cottage Grove.

Got the sign shot while strolling around.
Next we headed to Gold Beach, OR.
We stayed at a B&B there called Taylor Creek Lodge and it was nice and romantic.
It was a few minutes outside of the town.
Randy made friends with the horses at the lodge.

They have a short trail to see their waterfall, stream and the treehouse they rent as well. We stayed in the inn as I cannot climb those stairs.
I spent time lounging in this!
It was so scenic here.
Every night the owners would build a bonfire and provide all you need to make S'Mores!! Mmmm!
June 26th I was not feeling very good, so Randy did the river rafting jet boat from Jerrys out of Gold Beach. No photos. He returned the the B&B soaked and saturated! He said he was so glad I didn't go as it would not have been good for me!
June 27th we left and headed for Crescent City, CA.
This is the end of Part one,
The next post will be Part Two of this trip!
